RBARI - Holiday Boutique - Fri. Nov. 16- Sat. Nov. 17

The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. is holding its annual Holiday Boutique at the VFW Hall, Post 5702, corner of Pulis and Franklin Avenues, in Franklin Lakes, NJ on Friday, November 16th from 9am to 9pm and Saturday, November 17th from 9am to 5pm. Unlike many others our event does not have vendors but rather a multitude of seasonal decorations, holiday gifts for people and pets, crafts, homemade foods and baked goods. RBARI - Black Cat Adoption Weekend - Nov. 24 - 25

NJ Animal Control Officers Course - October 6 - November 17

Bergen Community College is now offering the Animal Control Officer (ACO) Course approved by the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services. Over the course of seven (7) Saturdays you will have to opportunity to be taught by, interact with, and build relationships with eight (8) of the foremost experts in the State of New Jersey regarding Animal Control (the following is a link to the faculty instructing in this class  CLICK HERE

Anyone interested in animal welfare personally or as a profession may and should attend. This includes kennel managers, shelter workers, rescue group personnel, volunteers, and those seeking an exciting career in animal control. The following is the course content: Click Here

Successful completion of this course meets the requirements of the N.J.A.C. 8:23A-2.2 statute for appointment as an ACO by a New Jersey Municipality. Additionally, this is the only Certified ACO Course whose graduates receive certification for Incident Command Systems 100 & National Incident Management 700 by the National Wildlife Fire Coordinating Group as well as Pet First Aid.

In addition to the classroom component participants must arrange for and complete a 20-hour field training component in order to receive certification.

The course will be held on seven Saturdays, Oct 6 through Nov 17, 2012.  Classes will be held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm each day. Completion of the course requires attendance at all classes.

Tuition for this program is $879, which includes all materials. Registration will be through Bergen Community College at 201-447-7488.  Enrollment is open to any person 18 years of age or older; and, there is no requirement for prior experience or training to attend this course. Main Street Wine Cellar in Madison, in partnership with St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, invite you to a Wine Tasting at the Morris Museum to benefit homeless pets.

In addition to sampling wines from all over the world, participants will be treated to hors d’oeuvres donated by local area restaurants while enjoying the exhibits on display at the Morris Museum.
